Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) was founded on November 1, 1901, at Richmond College, now the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Va. Since then, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest fraternities in the country with more than 15,000 undergraduates on 228 college campuses each year. They are among the more than 315,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since 1901.
SigEp believes it must offer programming to complement the academic experience our undergraduates have in the classroom. The Fraternity offers five different local, regional and national leadership events designed not only to help brothers run a successful chapter, but to become stronger leaders for the rest of their lives. In the 2013-2014 academic year, more than 7,900 brothers enrolled in our leadership events.
SigEp is proud to offer leadership training that enhances our undergraduates’ experiences and prepares them for life after college. These programs have been recognized as among the best in the fraternity world at shaping the lives of undergraduates who will go on to impact their communities. The programs are:
- EDGE
- Carlson Leadership Academy
- Ruck Leadership Institute
- Tragos Quest to Greece
- Conclave and Life After College.
These events are a highlight of the SigEp experience for many undergraduates, who enjoy the opportunity to expand their network and become friends with brothers from other chapters.
SigEp Leadership events are successful largely because of the tireless work of thousands of volunteers who donate their time and talents to support the Fraternity experience at local, regional and national levels. Many of SigEp’s volunteers are alumni who stay involved to give back. Others are members of the University’s faculty and staff as well as parents and community leaders who give back because they believe in SigEp’s ideals and want to make an impact on the undergraduate experience for college men. In addition to undergraduate-focused events SigEp also offers specific educational programming for our volunteers, which can be found in the app.
